The 8th in line to the throne waves at us from a huge expensive limo that we pay for

The toxic revelations continue. The vulnerable girl at the centre of the Prince Andrew story, has tragically taken her own life. The release of the Epstein emails has forced The Firm to make token  gestures ( Er…you have to be called Andrew and you and your servants have to live in big refurbished farmhouse as opposed to a palace. You have to play more golf ).

The Royal Reporters – after decades of relentless fawning and deference – now have the biggest story in the world landing on their beat – and  they are not equipped to handle a story that requires investigation, insight and interrogation ( actual journalism ). So they double down on sycophantic forelock tugging.

But even the more skeptical accounts,  refuse to look the issue in the eye ( the whole Epstein scandal has a huge misogynist aspect of course, but that is for another blog)

Allow me to summarise: The Monarchy is a Moral Abomination.

Members of the royal family aren’t selected. They don’t have to show any aptitude for the job.  Or merit.  They don’t have to reflect British society. They don’t have to have any particular talent for public speaking.  They don’t  have to work hard. It’s arguably the best job in the UK, but no-one else can apply.  The Head of State is  predicated on the deeply  offensive Nazi  concept of bloodlines.

They want us to view Das Windsor Klan  as a symbol – an affectionate badge of National Strength or Historic Continuity.  Actually they are a symbolic – but  not in the way the BBC would have it – their symbolic  function is  to launder the UK’s  appalling inequality, glamourises wealth, make us gawp at  palaces,  be in awe of vulgar crowns  and generally revere the Have Yachts of society. No wonder Trump loves the Monarchy

The Monarchy and media  condition us to believe rich, landowners are at naturally at the top. You, the little people, must not to question this.  You the people should  bow down and revere them, you are to pay attention to their “Highness”‘s visits to squirrel sanctuaries and gasp when they do some pathetically  bland stunt such as pouring a pint. It’s never acknowledged –  but the Royal Family is  potent cultural weapon, grifting  for the rich, for the  political right, for the Land Rover classes.

Constant sycophancy is not enough for the Windsors. Charles, William, Camilla, Andrew,  Anne, the Wee Stupid Looking One  –  are bored, entitled, completely out of touch.  They are  surrounded by Yes Men and Women, whose job it is to reinforce their belief that they are anointed by God. Arrogance and bad tempers are incubated, expected even.

 

When Prince Andrew wanted to visit Epstein – puzzlingly refusing to stay in the Embassy – do you think any of the palace staff flagged their concerns ? No chance. Deference is the default.

Put a thick clown  like Andrew Windsor in this position, and he’s an utter liability. Epstein ( and whoever the mysterious money behind Epstein) found this Royal Fool easy to compromise. So too did a Chinese spy.

Could the British government have been blackmailed or coerced with the threat of revealing Andrew’s behaviour ? It sounds outlandish, but if someone had said to the Government when the Queen was alive , do you want the Queen’s son to be shown in videos raping underage girls and therefore  ending the Monarchy ?

I suspect the (any)  government would have done anything to avoid such humiliation  ( I have no evidence for coercion, but the point is, Andrew’s selfish sleaze bag behaviour could have huge consequences for the country  )

The key point is, Monarchy is a feudal hangover, that damages those who are in it. The whole apparatus of the palace is engineered to ensure that they are obeyed. That they are not to be questioned. That they are to be guaranteed secrecy. That they are to be praised and flattered. That they are inherently ABOVE us, above the law, above morality.  And that facade

Whilst the Palace are currently sad facing about all this – why aren’t the handing over all Andrew’s flight records ? Records of all the visitors to the palaces ? Who did Epstein meet ? Did the full machinery of the palace try to crush the victim in a smear campaign? Why did they deny it all when they knew at the time ?

The answer is – Defer to the Duke, even if he is forcing himself onto a trafficked and vulnerable teenager. Accept the right of Kings. The kind of self centred arrogance and abuse that Andrew has indulged in –  is a feature, not a bug.

In just a few generations

The Monarchy very nearly gave us a Nazi King.

The Monarchy gave us Mountbatten, a notorious paedophile.

The Monarchy gave us Prince Andrew, and refused to challenge his behaviour

By all means, get angry about Prince Andrew. We all should. But ultimately, understand that the problem is the outdated and offensive premise of the Monarchy itself.

This is often presented as a sign of how reasonable a person is – not sure about the Royals but liked the ( now dead ) Queen ( Not the rubbishy Camilla one )

Remind yourself

The Queen ran the monarchy as Andrew abused young girls

She promoted Andrew at every turn

She paid hush money to his victims

She gave him medals after the scandal erupted

Like rats up a golden drainpipe, the Windsors are rushing to distance themselves from Andrew. But when it really mattered that they Do the Right Thing, they did the wrong thing.

The whole apparatus of the Monarchy was used to prevent justice proceeding. Virginia Roberts – and maybe other young girls – were denied justice.

Actually, the (dead) queen should take a lot of blame

That’s not an aberration. Protecting the royals from scrutiny and reason is not a bug, but a feature. Andrew’s mistake was he got caught – or in fact, it’s that one photo.

People need to understand, that the very foundations of the monarchy – secrecy, deference and a complete and utter lack of accountability – leads to corruption and toxic abuse of power.

Every time a royal is in public, we should shout – What Did You know ? When Did you know it ? What did you do about it ? Who did you tell ?

Wouldn’t you like to know about Andrew’s finances ? About Savile and the royals ? About Charles being given bags full of cash ?

All the secrecy. All the deference. All the corruption that follows. And the reason: it suits the establishment to mascots for the rich & powerful. To present Billionaire Landowners as a legitimate and glamorous icon of Britain.

Fuck that. The royal family are a disgraceful symbol and a symbolic disgrace.

Coronation Special: Why the Monarchy is an absolute shit show & has to GO….

So, Charles Windsor is about to get a fancy new hat. And *trumpet blast* that makes him the head of the British state. Nobody asked ….us – the people who live in the UK. We are to clap and cheer, and sing Dancing on the Ceiling.

So it’s time to restate some basic objections

Firstly, the Monarchy is based on an outdated heridatary principle.

The principle that gave us….sweaty Prince Andrew, that very very nearly gave us a Nazi King ( who emphasised the benefits of bombing London his Nazi friends ), that gave us the our current embarassment – Charles Philip Arthur George, prince of Wales and earl of Chester, duke of Cornwall, duke of Rothesay, earl of Carrick and Baron Renfrew, Lord of the Isles, and Prince and Great Steward of Scotland ( I shit you not)

So folk like me think that amongst the…. 67million… people in the UK – selecting the dull, dry, posh, stupid and out of touch Charles Windsor is a ridiculous choice for a figurehead.

But – tough shit.

There is nothing we can do. He is imposed upon us, constantly venerated in the media, and we’re are told -relentlessly – on an official and cultural level, to tug our forelock and be grateful y’r majesty.

This is fundamentally anti-democratic, anti-meritocratic. It is by default racist, classist, exclusive. It is unaccountable, it is utterly secretive, it is almost certainly corrupt.

Anyone who endorses our celebrates the Royal Family, is tacitly agreeing to the principle that the risible Windsor family are the best representatives of the UK.

That royal kids automatically deserve better opportunities than their own kids. That some are born to be above them. That effort, intelligence, merit and experience, should bow down to status, wealth, heirarchy and poshness.

And those who don’t agree ?

At least a third of the UK ( and more than half of Scots ) – we are very deliberately ignored, we are reviled, we are presented as eccentrics ( indeed, often presented as ‘confirmation that that our monarchy is tolerant’ – look we’re so amazing we don’t just KILL these people like they would in Saudi ! ).

Republicans are reduced to booing, blank pieces of paper or just writing snarky blogs ( anti Monarchy protestors have been arrested for the act of protesting )

But there is cause for optimism – younger folk have little time for the Windsors, and the Firm is actually tearing itself apart. Many of us abhor automatic deference.

And always remember, the Monarchy is a culture war weapon of Right Wing Politics – think about the values it embodies – big landowners, unaccountable wealth, tax dodging, hunting, military and swanning around London in Landrovers. No amount of cute crown emjois or Paddington skits should obscure this.

Be visibly Anti-Monarchy. When the BBC report ‘the nation celebrated’ the coronation they are of course deliberately ignoring huge swathes of the population, but we must make it difficult. And if Fat Geoff the Monarchist says – well vote for an MP who’ll criticise ’em in parliament – point out that it is forbidden to voice any critcism of the Royal family in Parliament.

So stick your Coronation. We’re not celebrating. We’re cringing.

The Royal Family Are Liars ( and always have been)

The Royal Family are liars. No ? You don’t agree ?

Well either Harry is lying ( “they were happy to lie to protect my brother” ) or the Palace is lying. Either way, it’s indisputable that a member of the Royal Family is lying.

But we should hardly be shocked. The Royal Family have been lying for centuries…. and are almost never held to account. They loftily issue statements from on high, and no-one – the deferential police, the right wing media, the grovelling politicians – ever dares to query their dubious version of events.

Recollections may vary…

The Palace lied about Epstein’s victims:

The Firm epitomise unaccountable power. The fawning and servile behaviour around the royal family is of course risible & comical, but their lies are not just white lies & the stuff of late night talk show snark. It also big lies, to corruption, that causes real world harm & trauma.

Prince Andrew’s truthful face

In 2015, when court action loomed, Prince Andrew and the palace, in an official statement ‘vehmently denied’ “any form of sexual contact or relationship with Virginia Roberts” and added: “The allegations made are false and without any foundation.” Essentially, they said the 17 year old girl, trafficked by notorious paedophile Epstein & notorious trafficker Ghislaine – was lying.

It went to court, and Prince Andrew’s lawyers called the victim ‘a money hungry sex kitten’. They then conceded – $10m dollars were paid out and a statement acknowledging the girl had “suffered both as an established victim of abuse and as a result of unfair public attacks”. The money ( our money ) was paid to ensure Andrew didn’t have to face a courtroom and explain why he – and the PALACE – were clearly lying. Please bear in mind, this was the all the might of the Monarchy – all those who work for it – doing whatever they could to trash the teenage victim.

These types of aggressive attacks on me are exactly the reason why sexual abuse victims typically remain silent and the reason why I did for a long time

The Palace lied to protect a Nazi in the Family

This is a lie by omission. The Crown had an excellent episode about the Marburg Files – the documents the royal family tried to erase from history. It’s an extraordinary tale of treason (and I’d recommend reading about it). In essence, the Duke of Windsor eagerly collaborated with the Nazi’s, to the extent that he advised them that “Duke believes with certainty that continued heavy bombing will make England ready for peace.” 

There you go, the Queen’s uncle, advising Actual Nazis, that their best strategy to win the war was to kill English people and destroy London. The government, the family, the military all knew about this, but when the royal families wartime history is told, it’s all about ‘looking the East end in the eye’ and queenie volunteering to drive a truck. No-one mentions that The Duke of Windsor kept his title, lived a long luxurious life after the war, and King Charles regularly wrote to him.

The Queen Mother, became the patron of Mencap in 1986 ( they still boast about this on their website ). Her patronage was appallingly hypocritical given vshe was complicit in hiding two of her own mentally disable nieces into a mental institution – in order to ensure their was no embarasment to the Royal Family ( the Queen Mother was unapologetically obsessed with bloodlines & eugenics ). The sisters – Katherine and Nerissa Bowes-Lyon were the Queen’s first cousins. But after being hidden away, their family told Debrett’s peerage ( the aristocracy Who’s Who ) that they….were dead. They were abandoned, never getting a card or a visitor. That was the lie – the disabled members of the family were dead. When the scandal broke in 1987, the Debretts publisher said… “It is not normal to doubt the word of members of the Royal Family.”

Every wedding is presented as a ‘fairytale wedding’ for us gormless proles to stare at with dreamy eyed wonder. Even when…Charles and Diana are weeping the night before. As marriages strain over the years, there are documentaries & fawning reports about ‘long lasting’ love – despite the Penny Knatchbull, despite Camilla, despite Rose Hanbury looming around. They think we’re gullable and daft. You may say everyone is entitled to privacy within their marriage – and that’s normally true – but The Windsors are presented to us as eternally happy, good and worth the money.

And they tell little lies regularly…

After the ‘Where are you really from?’ racism incident recently, the Palace press office claimed ““We have reached out to Ngozi Fulani on this matter, and are inviting her to discuss all elements of her experience in person”. But days later Ngozi Fulani said noone had been in touch. Just a taxpayer funded office telling open lies in a blind panic to clear their own people.

There are many, many such examples – claiming to do one thing, but presenting no evidence and almost never challenged.

The point I’m making is – historically & culturally – The Firm find it very easy to lie, and even easier to ‘seed’ lies to their court of sycophants & media cyphers – ‘palace sources’ gives a story credibility, but also, is deniable if things go sour.

It’s extraordinary. Nobody holds them to account. Nobody calls out the bullshit, big and small. To even question their version of events is seen as an affront.

Tales of King Charles that the BBC Won’t Tell You…

Propaganda is about what is emphasised. It’s not some ornate conspiracy to delude us, it’s just that those who inform us are very selective about how our attention & engagement is directed. Conditioning, if you like.

When ‘reporting’ royal stories, they almost never foreground anything that could upset the establishment image. Even if it’s important.

So allow me to offer some sort of a corrective – stories about King Charles for your consideration…

1.King Charles has encountered a shocking amount of paedophiles in influential positions – Chazzer’s hero was Louis Mountbatten (who acccording to FBI files had ‘a perversion for young boys’), his guru was Laurens Van Der Post ( who impregnated a 14 year old girl he was supposed to care for ), one of his best friends and advisors was Jimmy Savile . He even bought An Actual Fucking House for Bishop Peter Ball, claiming that he felt strongly about the ‘monstrous wrongs done to you’.

One of Peter Ball’s victims was 12 years old. ( Ball pleaded guilty ).And there’s Prince Andrew. Anyway, basically that’s…Role model, mentor, friend, spiritual advisor and brother – all guilty of horrendous abuses.

To be very clear, I am not accusing the King of being involved in paedophilia ( I have no evidence and it’s a heinous accusation to make ) but…. what a dumb buffoon. He cannot judge character.

This was when Charles advocated coffee enemas to cure cancer.

2. King Charles has a head full of broken biscuits. He’s a thick person’s idea of a clever person. He preens himself as though he is an environmental prophet (when in fact, he’s an environmental hypocrite), and he’s prone to pronounce on issues he knows nothing about and has absolutely no training in. Despite only getting 2 A-levels ( B in history, C in French ) he got into Cambridge – yeah I know – where they gave him a middling 2:2.

3. He was completely horrible to his young wife. Diana was a teenager, he was 30 when he proposed. They met a mere 12 times. She found out he was still obsessed with Camilla. She cried and cried and tried to call off the wedding. He cried too – but was too pathetic to call of the wedding. They got married. And a gallery of grotesque sycophants celebrated the Fairytale Wedding.

4. He loves to kill for fun.. Charles loves fox-hunting and killing things more generally. He threatened to leave the UK if foxhunting was banned ( I mean, c’mon that’s what you choose to take a stand on ? He was quoted as telling Blair that he “would not dare attack an ethnic minority in the way that supporters of fox hunting were being persecuted”. ).

5. The coveted idea of ‘responsibility’ & ‘duty’ is dubious. If you’re in his position – a billionaire head of state who’s eager to be seen as an envrionmentalist – you don’t accept….bags full of cash from Oil Despots. He refused to face questions or take the stand in the Independent Inquiry in to Child Sex Abuse instead sending a letter. If you’re supposed to embody the highest standards in public life you don’t call your asian friend ‘Sooty’.

Anyway, that’s your King folks. That you pay for. That you are told to revere. Ant & Dec will never tell you this, nor any of the other royal documentaries that the palace have almost complete control over.

          The Monarchy is big on pageantry. Putting themselves at the very centre of carefully choreographed national events.

          They love basking in the cheers. Associating themselves with genuine achievements – be it a hospital opening, a Cup Final or a big film premiere.

          But if they love a bit of feudal panto, we can play that game too.

          Liverpool fans booing Prince William ( & God Save the Queen ) is proof that not everyone equates national anthem with automatic sycophancy.

          Sure, it’s a blunt instrument, but fuckin’ hell, they’ve got the Red Arrows, the press, the BBC and the a budget of millions and they bribe people a special bank holiday to ensure they get a cheer.

          But Booing works. A few brave Boo’s can change an event in seconds.

          Prince William looked like the chancer he was after his perfunctory Grenfell tower visit.

          No-one really asks our opinions on the royal family. There’s very little room to show dissent, to publically display republicanism.

          Booing at jubilees and weddings, I admit that’s ambitious. But when the toffs come to patronise us, to working class culture, we should all….BOOOOOOOOOO

          BOOOOOOOO TO BRIBES AND SECRECT

          BOOOOOOOO TO RACISM

          BOOOOOOOOOOOO TO CLASS CONDITIONING

          And voila, the royals will stop turning up for big public events. Monarchy, generally do not feel comfortable

          3 Reasons why you shouldn’t celebrate The Jubilee…

          yeah…about that….

          A very very rich old woman has been the Head of State of the UK for 70 years.

          This very un-meritocratic fact been heralded as a cause for ‘The Nation’ to ‘Celebrate’. But really – it’s an opportunity to get out there and spread the rebel gospel of Republicanism.

          So when you find yourself half-cut at some dismal jubilee party, and Fat Eddie is spearing a ‘British banger’ from the barbecue ( ‘lemme try one of these bad boys’ ) then do step in and cause an argument. Here’s some starters for 10..

          FIRSTLY – Monarchy is unfair, unaccountable, snobby and anti-modern: What you’re celebrating, is the fact that neither you nor anyone else will ever be given the opportunity of the huge salary, incredible prestige and vast benefits of being Head of State. Only the Windsor Family. Now and for generations.

          Look at the kids running about on jubilee day and think – Monarchy is a System that decrees that Royal Kids are inherently better than all other kids. That no matter how hard they work, no matter how talented they are, no matter how smart – other kids – your kids ! – will never have the the influence, wealth or privileges that the royal family are given automatically & without any accountability. You wanna actually celebrate that outrageous unfairness at the very centre of British public life ? Bunting up for…bloodlines ? For hereditary wealth and power ?

          (oh, if Fat Eddie wheels out the ol’ OH I SUPPOSE YOU’D PREFER PRESIDENT BLAIR / BORIS )

          Secondly…The Queen is an Icon of Inequality and Tory Values: Look at the most slavish devotees to the queen and the monarchy – they are without doubt, the right of the British politics. The royal family were a weapon in the culture war before we knew the term Culture War. This jubilee – and all the weddings, funerals and coronations – glamourise class inequality and legitimise the hoarding of huge amounts of wealth and property. The royals do personify Right Wing Britain – all white, all born in private hospitals, educated at Eton, all army loving, all rich and forever landrovering off to shoot things.

          No wonder Ress Mogg, Farage, the DUP & the Tories have a royal fetish. Events like jubilees are partially about indoctrination, about labelling Royal values as British values.

          And thirdly….just…..Don’t be an Imbecile: I mean c’mon folks – the monarchy has long since ceased to be a Fairy Story ( Virgina Guiffre descibed her teenage encounter with a Prince thus – “It didn’t last very long, the whole entire procedure. It was disgusting”). History has shown that Edward – the Duke of Windsor – was a Hitler fan who fed information to the Nazis & encouraged them to bomb London. Prince Charles is plainly thick & arrogant, and Prince William is reputed to be bad tempered and lazy.

          Sometimes people feel a patriotic duty to enjoy the sillyness of the monarchy, but it’s not harmless. It’s toxic, it’s institutionally racist, it venerates wealth, it entrenches hierarchy and it deserves to be called out.

          The Monarchy have armies of taxpayer funded PR & and are surrounded by right wing fawning media who hype up every tiny achievement and minimise or ignore every idiotic remark or crass decision.

          So, spread the word.

          How the Palace Tried to get Andrew off the hook

          Bizarrely, when it comes to Prince Andrew, there is some sympathy around for the Royal Family & Monarchy. As if…. he’s just an aberration – the embarassing black sheep of the family. Conveniently ignoring that his behaviour is a predictable result of enabling arrogant toffs who are never ever told they are wrong Sir.

          Let’s look back on Prince Andrew and the workings of the Palace – and note how the Monarchy’s army of PR people and “aides” assisted and enabled him at every turn.

          We all now know – and he does not deny – that Prince Andrew forced himself on a vulnerable teenager. This Bad Apple theory suits the secretive inner workings of the monarchy – it obscures the fact that the palace that has been straining to help him avoid justice all along. Enabling Andrew. That’s the story no-one is focusing on…

          1999 – Prince Andrew flies with Maxwell to Epstein’s island. Flight logs show this. Prince Andrew’s security & the palace knew this. Did no-one think….erm….to ask ANY questions ? Did the Met Bodyguards who accompanied him report what they saw at Little St James ? What say you Buckingham Palace? It really stinks.

          1999 – Epstein and Maxwell stay at Balmoral. Is there any security clearance or background check required ? Did anyone query who they were ? Or if Prince Andrew says they’re his chums, do they dare not question Royal Judgement (mind you Savile was allowed to roam around the palaces as he pleased)

          2001 – Prince Andrew Rapes Virgina – The Photo. The house. The vulnerable 17 year old runaway surrounded by older rich and powerful people. So, Buckingham Palace – why can’t you tell us …were Andrew’s security with him ? Why are their logs not available ? Why won’t the palace produce the notes that prove he was in Pizza Express that night ? Did they rip out & destroy the pages that said ‘Tramp nightclub. Private residence in Belgravia with young girl’ ?

          2012 –THE PALACE HELPS ARRANGE FOR EPSTEIN TO PAY OFF FERGIE’S DEBTS: that’s what happened. It was all arranged via ‘The Duke’s Office’ – i.e. palace staff. Despite Epstein’s conviction – nobody objected. They were not duped, they facilitated. Later Fergie apologises for taking £15k from Epstein to pay off her debts – saying “I abhor paedophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf.” Thanks for clarifying that Fergie. She also added “This is the first time ever in my life, and I mean ‘ever’, that I have been debt free. It allows me to go forward to do what I do, being a good mother, a philanthropist for children…”

          There you go, a “philanthropist for children”, who eagerly grabbed money from a convicted paedophile.

          2015 – THE PALACE VICTIM BLAMES – “It is emphatically denied that the Duke of York had any form of sexual contact or relationship with [the woman]. The allegations made are false and without any foundation.” thunders Buckingham Palace. Think about that for a moment – those are not Prince Andrew’s words, they are The British Monarchy’s words. They are issued from on high, and come with the full heft of the establishment behind them. They are written by a highly paid aide, with expensive lawyers whispering advice. I’d imagine the Queen would have had to approve the wording. We now know they are LIES. You, the taxpayer paid ( lots) to victimise a young girl, to upset and traduce her.

          THE PALACE THREATENS JOURNALISM – When the initial story broke, the Palace started flexing its muscle, making veiled threats against newspapers who might reveal further information. ABC newsreader Amy Robach (unwittingly) revealed that she had recorded an interview with Andrew’s victim – Virginia – and that it had never been broadcast. “I’ve had the story for three years,” Robach says in the video ( which no longer seems to be online, but there’s a version here – warning links to FOX ). “We would not put it on the air. Um, first of all, I was told, ‘Who was Jeffrey Epstein? No one knows who that is. This is a stupid story. Then The Palace found out that we had her whole allegations about Prince Andrew and threatened us a million different ways.”

          September 2019 – “sources close to” Prince Andrew ( i.e. the palace and his PR people ) claimed the Andrew / Virgina photo was faked – absolutely desperate stuff from the palace, trying to undermine the victim and their irrefutable evidence.

          November 2019 – The Prince and the Palace thinks they can outsmart us, with a tell all interview with Emily Maitliss. Whilst turned out to be a great scoop, it’s worth considering the dubious journalistic practice – it took place in the grandeur of Buckingham Palace ( ergo, lending it state-like gravitas ). Also, the interview was not in keeping with news norms – Maitlis discussed the content of the interview in advance ( over tea at the palace, Prince Andrew himself declared he thought the photograph was a doctored fake. ) Astonishing though it may seen, the incredibly stupid alibi – I was at Pizza Express – was prearranged by the palace before the interview. His answer would have been rehearsed.

          Feb 2020 – An exasperated FBI announced “Prince Andrew has provided zero cooperation“. “Sources” tell the newspapers that he is ‘more than happy to talk’. But of course, those unattributable sources ( i.e. The Palace) are just lying. The Monarchy is run by the Queen, and no-one is making Prince Andrew cooporate with the law, and they continue to lie to the public, and besmirch the victim.

          There may be other countless moments the palace intervened to pervert the course of justice. They know Prince Andrew is toast. I wonder what role the Government took in the whole thing. Did they apply pressure to get rid of charges?

          But they don’t want anyone scrutinising THEIR ROLE in the whole sleazy farrago. Because you – the taxpayer – pay for palace staff, for PR, for lawyers.

          Which is why we should not draw a line under it.

          Prince Andrew: The Queen is complicit…

          There seems to be a very urgent effort to erect a High Firewall between Prince Andrew and the rest of The Firm, as stories ’emerge’ that ‘the Queen will not pay his spiraling costs’.

          Andrew is toxic. He is disgraced. They know that they must cut him loose.

          And it’s all presented with an infantile *puts on cry-wank-Eastenders accent* “Our Poor Queen, gor-bless…another burden on her poor life…is her wayward son….” *tiny tears*

          Er….It’s a bit fuckin’ LATE.

          The Queen runs the monarchy. That’s how it works. The monarchy has done everything it can to obstruct justice (not to mention, the Quee is the mother to the spoilt & arrogant Andrew ).

          Queenie has been arrogantly supporting of her idiotic son since the story broke. She has very publically stood by him. She has been reluctant to show any sort of disapproval – no Palace Summits to discuss exploiting teenage girls. In fact, he brought paedophiles to slouch about on the throne. The palace machine has gone even further – actually helping Andrew orchestrate his PR. As this Vanity Fair story put it at the time “Under the protection of the Queen, Prince Andrew was untouchable.”

          Consider…

          When story first broke in 2010, the queens response was…to award Andrew with the highest possible award for personal service to the Queen – the Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order. Even the grovelling royal press took a dim view.

          Basically, nothing changed for Andrew. In fact, he was promoted.

          5 years later the Epstein story was back in the news and Prince Andrew was named in court papers…and asked to make a statement under oath. Buckingham palace refused to accept the papers, sending them back. And 55 year old Andrew was…promoted to Vice Admiral of the Royal Navy ! Hurrah, throw your hats in the air sailors ! Vice ! Vice ! Vice !

          After Andrew shot himself in the foot with his utterly humiliating Newsnight interview – the world laughed and raged and the Queen singled out Andrew to join her in a public engagement.

          In 2021 – the Queen made sure he kept his role as honorary colonel of the Grenadier Guards. ‘Military sources’ told The Times “The Queen has let it be known to the regiment that she wants the Duke of York to remain as colonel and the feeling is that nobody wants to do anything that could cause upset to the colonel-in-chief. It is a very difficult, unsatisfactory situation.” (all those military types pledging slabbering loyalty to the Queen. Then when they express misgivings about her sleazeball son as a figurehead she shows that she couldn’t give less of a fuck for what they think about anything.)

          And this is just the stuff we know.

          What we don’t know – what goes on behind palace gates, in the government departments – is far more intriguing – listen up, these are the important questions

          What did the Queen know and when did she know it ?

          How did she find out ? What did she do about it ? Who did she tell ?

          Was a blind eye turned to Andrew’s friendship with a paedophile ? With the palace & Queen’s knowledge ?

          Have the palace – and taxpayer – put money into obfuscation ? Have we been paying for PR for the Prince Andrew ? Have we been paying for his lawyers?

          It seems utterly inconcievable that senior members of the palace staff, the Met police – who, after all, provided protection officers who accompanied Prince Andrew to Epstein’s island – and the Queen, who is, after all, the head of the monarchy – knew nothing ?

          The secrecy around the royal family has always been a disgrace. Now it is being used to hide actual criminal behaviour.

          And given that the royal family have access to state secrets, to GCHQ, to the full powers of the state, are we allowed to know if the odds against the Brave Young Women are fair ? When the Intelligence community justify unethical action in ‘Defence of the Realm’ does that run to protecting the Queen and her family from the law?

          Every single day, the royals are revered and fawned over on the BBC, ITN, the majority of the newspapers. Nobody wants to hold the whole institution to account.

          The Windsor family are handed an extraordinary and obscene amounts of money that’s ultimately from our pocket via taxation. They are just one family and they required £142.4 million in 2019.

          But £142.4 million, it would appear, is not enought to fill their grasping velvet mitts.

          The Windsor family are courted by the vulgar, the wealthy, oily corporate types. Stupidly rich people.

          These people are the Royals peers – their contact with the ‘real world’ of business. As a result, useless dotards like Prince Andrew are desperately keen to be seen as Players in the Big Dick Business Game – it might impress his friend Peter Jones.

          Prince Andrew acted as a broker for a Kazakh Oligarch who was desperate to buy a home from the Queens estate.

          Co-in-ci-dentally at the same time…. he sells his horrible shitty house to….the very same Kazakh Oligarch for £15m ( £3m pounds over the asking price for a house that no-one else wanted ) Fancy that !

          The Oligrach was so thrilled with his purchase….that err…he never even visited SouthYork – and bulldozed the whole place a few years later.

          Fergie sells access to Andrew

          In a tabloid sting, Fergie demanded the Fake Sheik wire half a million quid to her account …saying that this would “open any door you want, and I will for you…look after me and he’ll look after you”. Maybe the FBI should get in touch with Fergie to help prise those palace gates open.

          Fergie also took money from Epstein – £15,000. Significantly, this was AFTER he came out of prison. I mean, you’re in the public eye, you need some money – who do you turn to ? A high profile convicted paedophile of course !

          She later said – “I abhor peadophilia and any sexual abuse of children and know that this was a gigantic error of judgment on my behalf. I am just so contrite I cannot say”. Oh boo-hoo- but HE WAS A CONVICTED PAEDOPHILE AT THE TIME AND YOU STAYED IN HIS HOUSE, AND POCKETED HIS MONEY you crass imbecile.

          Get a Gong from Prince Charles – Slightly different route, but still a transaction. You are a wealthy Saudi for example – you make a huge donation to one of Prince Charles’s charities, and Charles’s fixer Michael Fawcett – will arrange an honour for you. Or in posh-speak the honours “will be made in response to the most recent and anticipated support [of] The Trust, and in connection with his ongoing commitment generally within the United Kingdom”.

          Funny how the Palace and the press always credit the royals for their “hands on” work with charity. Then there’s the sniff of corruption and suddenly Mercy Me – oh no Prince Charles knows nothing about the day to day operation of the charity. ( in this specific case it doesn’t ring true at all)

          Duke of Kent will get you access to Putin – quite the bargain at £50,000 for a week – or, if you want the full package – £143,000 for an recorded speech endorsement by the Duke himself. You might of wondered – who is this guy and what does he do ? Well, he does very little and he charges a lot. ( very weird that he offers access to Putin !)

          Sophie will get Edward to appear at your function. As she argued in 2001 – ‘For instance, in your own country when people find we’re working for you, the chances are you’ll get people interested: Oh gosh, they’ve employed the Countess of Wessex’s PR company.’ ( she had to resign when this came out)

          These are just a few examples, and the few that we know about. There’s a smell from Prince Andrew’s Pitch at the Palace, and how does he have enough money to buy ski chalets and fly around in Private Jet ?

          But – for no good reason – The Royal family are also blanketed in ridiculous secrecry – we’re allowed to know nothing, there is no transparancy – they’re protected never called to account for their actions.

          The institution of The Monarchy changes over decades – maybe even centuries – rather than on a day be day basis. They used to be for slavery, now they’re against it. They used to disdain commoners, now they marry them.

          But lets stop the daily jabber for a moment, to celebrate the startling news you don’t see printed in the deferential dailies.

          The Monarchy is Falling to bits.

          The wheels are falling off the golden coach & the whole circus looks tawdry and stupid. The flag waving crowds no longer show up (unreported). And it is only going to get worse….

          Consider….

          The Queen is old and going…going…. Inevitably there will be a cataclysmic knicker wetting when she dies and the world will go mad….. but die she will.

          All attempts at popularising Prince Charles have failed. He is not loved. Not respected. Has a whole back catalogue of idiotic statements. A stiff, old bore….out of touch and arrogant.

          Prince Andrew is wanted by the FBI, for a very very serious and repellant crime – being involved with exploiting trafficked young women.

          The Royal Family are in the shit if he goes to the FBI ( he wont) and in the shit if he spends the rest of his life helicoptering from palace to golf course at taxpayer expense

          Of course it’s an absolute scandal and stain on UK life that he has not been held accountable for his actions ( thanks, mainly to taxpayer funded PR & The Queen).

          Prince Harry has LEFT THE PALACE. As predicted by….er…none of the royal experts ( but yours truly called it long ago ). Truly he is The Prince Over the Water…but this one isn’t coming back. I’m not a devotee of Harry and Meghan, but they have done all that can realistically be expected to extracate themselves from the feudal shitshow. Royal on Royal attacks cause absolute consternation and confuse the puce faced “royal experts”. But the younger generation are very much #teammeghan.

          Prince William – there are rumours of an affair, and there is not much charm visible. He and Harry have fallen out. If he’s the Great White Hope of the Monarchy…well. He commits the cardinal sin of being boring. He’s beige chinos in at an IT conference in Switzerland.

          Culture has been mainly changing for the better – everyone is for diversity, equality, opportunity, meritocracy. So why is the public face of Britain still – one very rich, entirely white family who’s only qualification for the job their bloodline ? It’s self evidently preposterous. The rich and the conservatives love it, but c’mon people….object to this vulgar idiocy.

          ( it’s very disappointing that equality campaigners & diversity charities ignore this very obvious sore at the heart of British life. Gongs incentive deference.)

          Cool Britannia ?

          The UK is an odd country. Monarchy & empire have warped views and given a gaudy legitimacy to some awful takes.

          But being optimistic…more and more people despise snobbery, more and more people embrace multiculturalism, more and more people require accountability from those in power. Shows like The Crown are fundamentally pro-monarchy, BUT they do show how damaged those within it are. Eyes are being opened. To even question the Firm is subversive.

          And social media – and the decline of the grovel-sheets, means that – unlike the 1980s /90s – we have a voice.

          If the monarchy is bleating brittle and fragile…..don’t go doe eyed.

          Use your voice to blow it away. Convert Buckingham Palace into a museum – the tourists will flock, and your Aunty Margaret will have somewhere to opine “oh I did like the queen” and no-one will care.

          Imagine of a future where the UK is not represented by old, dull, white aristocrats – one of whom’s wanted for sex trafficking.

          Spread the gospel of a changed UK. The Green Party – with an explicitly anti-monarchy stance are already part of the Scottish Government. The era of fawning…is coming to an end.

          The Royal Family and the Environment

          A much loved National Figurehead. And Prince William.

          From their Private Jets, emerging from their huge palaces, leaning out of their landrover windows – the Royal Family love to lecture us that WE must do something to save the planet.

          The unfolding Environmental Catastrophe does need urgently addressed. It is indeed the most cataclysmic threat of our time.

          Prince Charles egotistically bores around claiming that he invented environmentalism and Royal PR eagerly shoves the Queen alongside David Attenborough and comes up with documentaries like The Queen’s Green Planet. Attenborough should place a stalking restriction on Prince William, as baldy is always elbowing in like they are bezzies.

          But Oxfam tells us, that – in fact – the worlds Wealthiest 1% were responsible for more than double the emissions of the poorest 50%

          Do the royal family question multinationals ? Do they critique captialism ? Do they set any sort of example by downsizing out of a palace ? Do they cut back on private jets, or even stop flying altogether ? Do they even do low bar gestures like stop burning their Grouse Moors up at Balmoral ?

          Do they point out that the Rich are Disproportionately responsible for the mess of the planet ? They’re pals with Richard Branson, do they point at him and say – it’s his fault ?

          Of course not.

          Prince William goes with the golf club bar idiocy theory – too many people . The offensive idea being if there weren’t so many babies being born in Africa having children then Willy and his polo playing chums could continue to swan about in their Landrover Discoverys.

          In 2020 Prince Charles was giving a speech to scientists in Cambridge about the need to lower aircraft omissions. Charles arrived in a private helicopter.

          And then recently, the Queen abused her position to exempt herself from a very moderate environmental plan to cut carbon emissions. This is the opposite of making an effort.

          This is refusing to make any effort whatsoever, even if it means having to actually interfere to change the law.

          The richest people, are demonstrably, most responsible for the climate.

          The Royal Family are apologists and legitimisers of the rich. They are friends with Plutocrats and Oil sheiks.

          Don’t tell US what to do. Tell the Sultan of Bruei. Tell your royal pals in Kuwait, in UAE. Tell Qatari Royal Family.

          I did love when Greta Thunberg met Chaz though. No fawning. No curtseying. No primped up in a stupid dress. Greta looked at him in a – This is a Waste of Everyone’s Time way ( of course reported sycophantically as a meeting of minds)

          The Royal Family are occasionally right about the environment.

          But by championing it, they immediately depoliticise the issue. They are symbols of conservative culture. They enable corporations. With no qualifications or expertise, Prince Charles – and now William – lecture us from their yachts and palaces.

          Maybe when they close down their huge palaces, when they refuse to fly in private jets, or in first class, or in jets, or at all – when they replace their convoys of Bentley’s and Rolls Royces with a bike…

          Then we’ll listen.

          Did Prince William spread Covid ?

          So here’s the timeline of events.

          On 4th of March, Prince Wiliam was saying things like ““I bet everyone’s like, ‘I’ve got coronavirus, I’m dying,’ and you’re like, ‘No, you’ve just got a cough,’”

          Prince Charles announced he had Covid on 26th of March.

          Despite Government warnings not to he bolted to his second home in Balmoral, bringing Covid to rural Scotland.

          Throughout the early part of April, Prince William posted videos of himself ( looking well ) – on the 8th, 12th, 13th, 16th, 17th ( peakier on the 17th ) then he disappears before doing another call on May 8th.

          On the 1st of May Wills and Kate tweeted a gushy piece about their kids birthday – declaring that the family had spent ‘several hours’ making pasta.

          ( by the way, I think it’s grim the way royalty exploit their 5 year old kid, who I won’t criticise for being a 5 year old kid)

          In two photos, the wee kid is seen picking up white bags of food for pensioners who are shielding from the virus or other vulnerable people in lockdown in Norfolk.

          And that the “four photographs were taken in April.”

          So far…so normal deferential nonsense.

          But jump forward to November, when it emerges….Prince William had Covid in April. “At a similar time to his father” according to BBC ( really….? Are you sure it wasn’t later ? 26th of March is not April)

          According to the Sun he had it when the Queen was spouting some We’ll Meet Again Nonsense which was the 5th of Aprill.

          According to NHS, you should self isolate for 10 days from the moment you show symptoms. And your family should isolate too.

          So…you know…the question needs to be asked – when did he get it ? Did anyone else in his family get it ? Was it really responsible for them to make food in their kitchen and then hand it out to “pensioners who are shielding from the virus or other vulnerable people in lockdown in Norfolk.”

          I’m just surprised there’ve not been more questions asked….

          The Royal Family – embodying White Privilege

          DIVERSE ROYALTY IS AN OXYMORON

          So The Monarchy are ‘considering’ appointing a ‘Diversity Tsar’. *(SEE UPDATE BELOW)

          This is reported with a straight face. Nobody splutters into their tea and says WHHHHHHAAAAT ?

          The Monarchy is predicated on aristocratic concept of bloodlines.

          This toxic belief means that Prince Andrew, Prince Edward, Prince William and the other useless dullards are seen as inherently superior to you. That their posh sprogs are inherently better suited to being head of state than your common (crappy) children. Because they have royal blood.

          This, in effect means the thickest, laziest, most corrupt member of the royal family, will automatically have more influence, more clout, more privilege than the most talented, cleverest, working class kid from Brixton, Motherwell or Wrexham.

          Think about the modes of adddress…when you write to the queen or their royal “Highnesses” you are advised – on their official page – to sign off with “‘I have the honour to be, Madam, Your Majesty’s humble and obedient servant”.

          The whole Firm is based on snobbery – this is a family who have to Bow and Curtsy to ONE ANOTHER in a hirearchicial way. Imagine – you nip for a piss in buck house in the middle of the night and bump into your po-faced ol’ granny and you have to curtsey ?

          Whatsmore, this family of damaged, arrogant, posh aristocrats believe themself to be superior to everyone else. That they are literally anointed by God. They embody exclusivity, not diversity. Their divine right means everyone else is below them.

          Think of someone you admire, respect, love.

          Then dwell for a moment on the fact that the UK consitution believes that Prince Andrew is automatically and without question superior to that person.

          When Prince William married Kate (who is from a wealthy family) it was the first time that a royal had married ‘a commoner’. There was a lot of embarassing grovelling praising this as ‘modern’.

          yeah, whatever mate.

          What’s this Diversity Tsar going to say ? Maybe rent some diversity to stand on the Royal Balcony on ceremonial occasions? Adopt someone from ‘the colonies’ ?

          For clarity – in our lifetime – Britain’s head of state will not be……Catholic ( illegal ), Jewish, Muslim, atheist, Hare Krishna, scientologist, Hindu, black, asian…the whole point is it’s a family racket. Given that the whole inheritable position is predicated on the monarch producing a bloodline heir, then it’s unlikely that anyone gay would be allowed to take the throne either.

          The Royal Family may or may not be racist. But the Monarchy is racist in practice.

          So it’s White Toff Charles. White Toff Wills. White Toff George ( if George has to wait as long for the throne as 72 year old Charles – that means white Windsor men to the year 2086. )

          Windsor Supremacy, is the entire point. They can’t advocate for Equality, whilst they embody inequality.

          Let me welcome Prince Harry to the Republican cause. He’s completely right, they are all trapped.

          The Monarchy is an institution that damages the family within it, and – much more importantlly – the millions that have to live with its toxic effects on our political culture.

          Harry your weird family are victims of it, and warped by it. Of course, I don’t feel much sympathy for toffs in palaces, but they are just dumb poshos who are harnessed to sell an unfair society, to make poor people clap rich people in gold coaches.           Harry appears to realise that the bovine fans of the monarchy are the ones who buy the tabloids, who give approval ratings for their children, who demand that royals perform to affirm their infantile little visions of Old England. That’s the trap.

          I enjoyed Meghan’s articulation of the sheer absurdity of Windsor Land. Imagine your boyfriend panicking because you were going to meet his granny and you didn’t know how to perform a deep curtsey. Think about that for a moment. It’s utterly ludicrous.

          As per usual, the analysis has been woeful, with Republic barely appearing anywhere. They probably weren’t invited. Instead a litany of ‘royal experts’ were paraded to snootily pass judgement ( some where eager to pass judgemeent before the interview was even broadcast. This is also known as lying. )

          The framing was all Team Meghan or Team Monarchy. As opposed to asking… how on earth can a modern country have such a risible family as head of state? So the rest of the world now thinks that Britain is a country that has ‘concerns’ about skin colour? How can things be expected to improve when the Dullard Fox Hunting Military Loving Windsors are the only applicants to inherit the job ? No people of colour, no Catholics, no Jewish people, no one except Windsors.

          Of course they’re institutionally racist – Colonialism was instigated in THEIR NAME. The queen mother was a big fan of Cecil Rhodes. They embody the very idea that they are superior to other races, to other people, to you and me, to….everyone. The Church tells Betty she was Anointed By God.

          That’s why the Queen demands her own family to bow and curtsey to her.

          It’s clear that the skin colour remark was made by either Prince Charles or Prince William. Neither are popular. The queen will go, and thank god, it’s going to be rocky.

          Just get rid of this corrupt feudal shit show.

          Stop them influencing our laws. Stop them hiding from the FBI. Stop them dodging tax.

          A year on, and a lawyer representing the victims of Jeffrey Epstein has called it outrageous that Prince Andrew has still not cooperated with the FBI.

          It is absolutely scandalous. A man who’s movements are automatically documented by his protection officers ( your £) cannot find any way of proving his innocence. I wrote about the scandal here

          But the FBI investigation is just the tip of the feudal nonce-berg.

          The implications for the Monarchy are huge. Ask yourself…

          What did the Palace know, when did they know it and what did they do about it ?

          Was the Queen was told her son was fraternising with a criminal paedophile and didn’t say anything to him ? She keeps publically showing support for Andrew, what is she doing behind the scenes?

          She takes him to Church. But not to court.

          Or is is possible the Queen pressurised the UK government to protect him ?

          The Royal Family are damaged people – arrogant, self centred and out of touch. They’re frequently idiotic, crass, and with no real world experience.

          The slabbery monarchist declares ‘they do a lot of good work for charity’.

          But they don’t.

          According to this blog, Royal Patronage does not profer any tangible financial benefit upon the chosen charities. The research also found that the charities with royal patronage were disproportionately in the South East and South West of England ( close to one’s palaces & servants).

          So who does benefit from all this Charidee work?

          They don’t use the NHS, and they name hospitals after them.

          They like to hunt so then sad face for animal charities

          The economy is on the brink. The country is in deep shit. Yet the Royal family’s huge income goes up by £200,000 to £82.4 million.

          The docile and the easily duped will argue in vague terms about ‘up keep of palaces’ and ‘state functions’ but of course, there’s no real accountability. You, my friend, cannot just find out how your money is spent. The press won’t rattle any cages. The BBC tug their forelock.

          The government(s) are handing over money ( our– money ) to the Queen and her family, who are already obscenely wealthy. They spend our money on steak for the corgis, and flying FBI Suspect and abuser of trafficked girls, Prince Andrew, to watch golf. They spent £3.2m on a new helicopter.

          And if these lavish sums are going into ‘palace upkeep’, well how come the Windsor familly required another £369m to refurbish Buckingham Palace ( oh and they’re asking for another £20m on top of that ). Give us more money cause one spaffed the last lot on horse racing and range rovers.

          It’s utterly obscene. It is an deliberate attempt to legitimise – to glamourise – hideous inequality. The royal family, in part, is about conditioning people to wave their flags and embrace the fact that toffs have golden pianos, and poor kids have foodbanks.

          This is a time of National Crisis.

          If you’re going to try to make an rational argument for having a symbolic head of states – someone who’s role it is to lift moral, to inspire and set an example – then a crisis like covid is time for them to SHOW THEIR WORTH.

          Yet the Windsor family have been as much use as an inflatable dart board.

          In early March, at the very moment the public needed to begin to take the threat seriously, Prince William “joked” about it being over hyped by the media.

          Did he not get his brief ? Was he too lazy to read it ? Was he badly advised? You might think, it was just an off the cuff comment – but his job is to make sure that he doesn’t say anything dumb at vital moments. And he failed.

          [ UPDATE: In fact, as events turned out, it is possible that Prince William WAS actually spreading Coronavirus at this very moment, as a matter of weeks later he was diagnosed with Covid.           3 weeks later, Prince Charles did set an example. Despite feeling the first symptoms, ignoring Government guidelines, and the First ministers declaration that ‘Scotland was shut to tourists’ – Prince Charles swanned into Balmoral, and promptly declared he had Covid. He brought his entourage with him.

          At a time when doctors couldn’t get tested, both Prince Charles and Camilla were immediately tested (by the NHS, maybe the first time the Prince has deigned to accept non-private treatment). Despite him declaring he had only mild symptoms.

          The queen bolted straight into the first Rolls Royce departing London, and largely disappeared from view, until she popped up in a palace, and delivered a bland speech in a bland fashion, where sycophantic reporters declared “I defy anyone not to have a lump in their throat”. Lets be honest, it was pedestrian at best. Citing Vera Lynn and comparing the situation to the war is Paint By Numbers right wing crying boy.

          She didn’t clap for carers. Presumably that was considered too far.

          A recovering Prince Charles and Camilla showed themselves awkward and unable to master the basic skill of clapping for ordinary people.

          Since then Das Windsors have continued to show their lack of impact. William and Kate fwah fwahing to people in care homes looks tokenistic. Harry and Megz letting out a long bleating book isn’t a good look. Prince Andrew, however, is probably pleased at the distraction.

          The point is, This Should Be Their Moment – where they’re able to show sympathy for those who’ve lost loved ones, and try to inspire the rest of the country to unite and care for one another. This should be the moment it’s difficult to make and argument against the monarchy.

          Royalty is anti Social Mobility : Want to be the UK head of state ? Sorry, can’t do it luv. You don’t have the qualifications. You have to have emerged from a Windsor Vagina.           I’m enjoying Meghangate.

          A rich couple have a new baby then made a sensible decision to bring up their baby as – mercy me ! – a normal kid. The cold, stiff establishment (& the countless bovine followers) would prefer the kid faces a life of exhausting scrutiny and burdened with ridiculous symbolism. ( Maybe Harry reads this blog...).

          The whole thing is catnip for Britains Right Wing Roasters – Racism, royalty, feminism & rejecting the UK – suddenly red white and blue bile was fountaining up from every royalist arsehole in the country.

          Equally inept were the broadcast media. They Cannot Compute That People May Not Adore The Royal Family – even when those people are Your Actual Members of the Royal family. Thus Celebrity Feudalism blows a fuse.

          BBC & ITN are hard wired to revere and reinforce the place of the monarchy. So when Harry and Meghan made their Fuck It announcement, the broadcasters rushed to the usual florid faces who spouted their unsightful and unsourced assertions that the queen would be disappointed. ( does anyone else let their 95 year old Tory granny make all the decisions for their life ?) . These craven courtiers basically coughed up establishment pearl clutching on demand.

          The debate was framed around what ‘Meghan had done’ to the queen – but nobody dared to question the fundamentals – the embarassing absurdity of having a dull family of aristocrats living in golden palaces as a national symbol. Nor the effect of this set up has had on Meghan, Harry and their kid.

          Foaming tabloids seemed keen to present the 93 year old queen as some sort of decisive demi-Thatcher.

          There was an odd exception – Suzanne Moore wrote a great piece, and weirdly the most touching thing in it was her observation that she..

          ” went to Diana’s funeral. I watched those boys walk behind that coffin. Even in Westminster Abbey, no one touched or hugged them.”

          I remember that too. I don’t remember the royal sycophants criticising or demanding a bit more humanity from the emotionally damaged queen.

          If you’ll indulge me on Meghan and Harry – I predicted this exact scenario last year. Given that royal experts are often paid for their contribution, maybe I should buy a pair of red jumbo courduroys and stand outside Buckingham Palace offering my opinion.

          And what is spectacularly absent in all this Fwah Fwah Fwah analysis is any critical insight – Monarchy itself is ridiculous. It’s entirely out of date. It damages those within it. It infantalises the country and legitimises – glamourises even – inequality. Instead we have to hear Royal Expert Penny Junor descibe the Windsors as ‘the best people who sprinkle fairy dust whereever they go’ ( nice spot @uk_republic !)

          Lots of British folk are completely disinterested or actively oppose the Monarchy. Our opinions are not even welcome, not asked for, not heard. The media will give airtime to those who appear to be quite unwell, but rational opinion is subversive.

          I hope Harry and Meghan disappear off across the Atlantic, and when Archie is a daft wee 23 year old getting drunk and falling out of parties with girlfriends, there aren’t creepy Piers Morgan type men judging his behaviour.

          Before anything, let me express my sympathy and support for the women and girls who were enslaved and abused. Virginia Giuffre ( formerly Roberts) and other girls / young women – your innocence, your vulnerability were exploited by powerful men, and you deserve justice.

          In speaking out you are heroic, courageous and to be supported. I believe what your saying and am in awe of your resilience.

          Beyond the personal trauma this criminal episode, exposes the whole monarchy, not just Prince Andrew.

          The Questions that need answered….

          Did the Royal Family / the government / the Queen know about Prince Andrew’s visits to Epstein’s island ? To his mansion in New York ?

          Who did his security detail ( who we pay for ) report to and what did they say ? (“Prince on island with lots of teenage girls and sleazy men. Some of girls may be underage.” ?)

          Was there a reluctance to confront the Duke with his behaviour? After all he is notoriously a boor and shouts at anyone who questions him ?

          If the authorties / royal family / establishment knew what was going on – what did they do about it ? Anything ?

          There is a toxic, corrupting secrecy around the Royal Family, and we are allowed to know almost nothing, despite paying for almost everything. They are exempt from Freedom of Information. We’re not allowed to know.

          It’s one thing to argue that they are entitled to secrecy because why-should-the-public-know-how much-one’s-holidays cost – but quite another, when the secrecy is harnessed to protect them from being questioned about a very serious and ugly crime. Abuse. That’s the word. Abuse.

          Stop and think about this for a moment.

          The most reviled and hideous paedophile in the UK in decades was Jimmy Savile. Who Prince Charles counted as a good friend and advisor.

          The most reviled and notorious paedophile in US currently was Jeffrey Epstein. Who Prince Andrew counted as a good friend and holiday buddy ( even after his conviction).

          Despite my punk republicanism, I’m not a big fan of criticising the royal kiddies. They’re children. They DID NOT have a choice.

          Wee George, Charlotte, Louis and now Archie Parchie are blameless infants. But, due to the Monarchy, these kids fate is sealed..

          Royal children are there to be scrutinised, judged, photographed, ridiculed, venerated, manipulated and intruded upon from the moment they are born until the moment they die (and beyond).

          Their nursery teacher curtseys to them. Their schoolmates will whisper about them. They need security – think about that for a second – a little kid, due to being a symbol of UK, is inadvertently a target for terrorism. How can that ever be ok?

          As teenagers, they smoke a joint and the world knows about it. Any potential schoolboy crush will be vetted by the security services. Paul Burrell was dispatched to the newsagent to buy Razzle when William and Harry were adolescents. Royal kids can’t aspire to any sort of normal life.

          They are so obsessed with royal children they kiss dolls of royal children

          Monarchy turns these kids into freaks.

          And the people who created these conditions are the Royal family and the fans of royalty, who insist they have the right to intrude on a childs privacy. The stroppy Media Boo-Hoo-ing that went on about Archie’s christening is instructive. You’ve been born on stage wee man, and the Royalists DEMAND the right to coo and bubble over you.

          Harry and William know all about this freakish life. With stiff, inhumane theatricality, they were made to walk behind their mothers coffin in front of millions. They’ve said it was torture, that people were grabbing at them.

          So Royal boyos & their partners, here’s the thing.

          Take your kids away. Don’t pass this curse onto your own children. You are very rich, very connected. Go live in a ranch in Africa, or California. Watch as Harry almost shrinks when interviewed alongside his fiance…

          Meghan is disruptive, albeit not on purpose.

          How will this work with other news ? What if Betty pops her clogs on the same day as Brexit ? Or a horrible violent attack elsewhere? Or an hour before the Champions League final? How will the BBC cover differing reactions – Windsor will react in a very different way from the Falls Road Belfast, or Liverpool, or Glasgow….( answer – they won’t ).

          The establishment knows, an interegnum, is a potentially volatile time. Whilst Republicans will be screamed at to show respect, the machinery of the establishment will kick in, ruthless ensuring  that daring to even discuss the future of the monarchy is a sacriligous scandal.  If we dare to ask if King Charles is really such a Good idea, the Royal Experts ( who already cashed in by signing exclusive deals to be part of Sky News rolling coverage) will declare we’re crass and hateful…

          At the EXACT moment, when it’s vital to discuss whether The Monarchy should continue, UK Republicans will be  told to be silent or be labelled callous opportunists.

          I hope Republic have a plan for dealing with this, I hope Republican MPs speak up.

          But in the age of social media, they can’t just declare that we’re ALL inconsolable  weeping wrecks. We can make our voices heard. We can be visible. We have to say….

          Monarchists quickly run out of arguments when confronted with the very reasonable idea of an Elected Head of State.

          So with foot stomping  petulance they blurt out “Oh  YEAH ? So I SUPPOSE you’d prefer President Blair ?”

          As if it were an Ace, a badge of their raw integrity…..

          So for clarity…

          • An elected Head of State would be ELECTED – why do you presume your compatriots would all rush vote for a discredited figure like Blair ? Isn’t that a bit insulting ?
          • Whoever chose put themselves forward to be Head of State would  – rightly – face scrutiny and have to account for themselves. They  would have to justify their position. ( Emerging from a Windsor Vagina does not require anyone to explain themselves, nor volunteer )
          • Even if the unlikely scenario came to pass – President Blair – well, yes  I actually WOULD prefer it, because I could campaign against him and argue that he’s not a suitable candidate and hopefully the next time the head of state elections adolf-hitler-duke-and-duchess-of-windsortook place he would be gone.
          • If King Charles was found to be – I dunno, taking shopping bags of cash from Qatar, interfering in the NHS with quack medicine or hanging out with Britain’s most notorious paedophile (  oh wait… ) there’s no way we – ‘his subjects’ can replace him.  Bear in mind that Edward was due to be King, and he was a Nazi Sympathiser. Only an American divorcee and his abdication saved the UK from a fascist leaning Head of State.
          • Finally look at our neighbours Ireland, they’ve had a good run of Presidents in recent years, who’ve stood up for the people, and occasionally offered guidance during national debates.

          The Royal Family, Spitfire Crywanking and Brexit…

          The Royal Family embody an unpleasant  jingoistic strain of Britishness – entitled,  posh, and greeted with unquestioning deference everywhere they go.

          They are all about inherited wealth, about never explaining their actions, about  Union jacks, military, hunting, public school.  They are about rigid hierarchy and unquestioned privilege. When purple faced idiots harrumph that The Royal Family Is All About  Tradition – we should say well  lets examine the toxic  traditions they embody…

          And in that grumpy visage of the queen, the tabloids and MPs seem to take pride in an arrogant notion that there is no requirement for the ruling class to explain, justify or listen.

          They are presented as ‘The Best of British’  and this in turn infects British culture ( and in more recent times, that would be more specifically English culture ) with a bovine, entrenched certainty and a nostalgia for an glorified past where everyone knew their place under the royal family.

          I call it – Spitfire Crywanking. The culture that weeps and simultaneously gets shamefully turned on by spitfires, royalty and  the empire. Yet the same culture wallows in self pity – curdling to bitterness-  because the rest of the world refuses to be impressed by such a mouldy reactionary world view.

          In Fintan O’Toole’s book on Brexit, he argues that Britain never got over winning the war – that Britain triumphed but the spoils went elsewhere. Germany, Italy, Japan had to reinvent themselves, to get rid of old archaic nationalistic symbols, like, Royal Families.

          But UK still has its dreary, dense Windors. The BBC dredges up some an tedious item about Spitfires every 4 days. The Royal Variety show is tugging its forelock as I type this.

          And ultimately, after festering in the  culture of Spitfire Crywanking for years, Britain is going to huffs its way out of Europe.  The Royal Family didn’t cause Brexit, but they are part of the right wing horseshit in which such regressive thinking blooms.

          The rightwing culture  we are steeped in dares not name itself. But you heard it here first SpitFireCrywanking.  Reject it. Reject the Royals.

          Scotland versus the Royal family

          The royal family, should more accurately be called The London Royal Family. They never really leave their palaces in the exclusive parts of  London.

          The (very dubious)  argument that they Are Good For Tourism should really read The Are Good For Tourism in Very Wealthy Parts of London.

          There are however,  transparently patronising attempts to win favour with the ‘regions’ of their kingdom….

          The Prince of Wales ( lives  in London )

          The Duke of Edinburgh ( lives in London )

          The Duchess of York ( lives in London )

          not to mention the newly anointed…

          Earl and Duchess of Dumbarton ( 175 Dumbarton Main Street – NAW !…only kidding. London. )

          It’s a feeble distraction tactic by those who hold power. Could Duchess Meghan tell you a single fact about daily life in Dumbarton ?

          But it is Scotland that’s most proving difficult for the PR spinners of the royal family. Because –  despite being forced to stump up £35m a year  – most Scots are not enchanted by the forelock tugging crap any more.

          Some of our pals in England may wonder if Anti-Royal sentiment in Scotland is a symptom of a wider Anti-English feeling ?  Nope, not the case – for most Independently minded Scots, the idea of Independence is motivated by democratic self respect ( is Scotland a country? Yes it is. Should the people of a country have the right to elect their own government ? Yes they should. See ? ), and to mischaracterise it as Anti-English is like Gammon Gavin the golf club moron braying that Feminism Is Just An Excuse to HATE MEN.

          People in Scotland (including many of the English people who live here)  want independence as a means to change society for the better.

          And whilst the SNP leadership characterise an Independent Scotland as retaining the Monarchy, it’s fig leaf-  essentially trying to keep an older, more shortbread strain of Scottish electorate on board. Even campaigners for Scottish Independence don’t want to make Monarchy a foreground issue, because, why frighten off the hesitant pensioners and Sunday Post readers ?

          But there’s very little love for the royal family in Scotland.

           

          There was just ONE party in the entire country for Harry & Meghan’s wedding. There was no bunting for any of the royal weddings recently.  When a brand new edfd3e6a2ffb48b690140ed589e16280--scottish-independence-princeGlasgow Hospital was named after the queen, over 16,000 people signed a petition to object ( wrote about it here  ). The Scotland fans sang ‘Oh I’d rather have a Panda Than A Prince.” Only 41% of Scots are supportive.

          So what can the Royal Family do ? Prince Charles regularly dreary’s himself up in a kilt and writes crappy tales about Lochnigar, but the effect is patronising, rather than ingratiating. It reminds Scots of The Laird, the Hunting Shooting and Fishing class who own Scotland with the result that  the landscape  is deserted so that they can gammon together and shoot things.

          Central to all this is Balmoral. The Aberdeenshire castle has always been a key part of the Royals Love Scotland narrative.  When the royals stay at Balmoral, a piper plays outside every morning to wake them. So you know, they’re in touch with what life is like for people in Glasgow. In fact, the very romanticised, pantomime image of Scotland that Queen Victoria confected -has held Scotland back for years. We bought the Balmoralification of our culture, but not any more.

          The Firm also have an oncoming generational problem – do we really think that Harry and William will want to spend every wet September in rural Aberdeenshire ? I very much doubt it. An attempt to win favour was made by sending Prince William to St Andrews – and this is emphasised on every occasion – but St Andrews is hardly typical of Scottish life. Anyway, he didn’t like it.

          And most significantly of all, the Queen politically interfered in the most important democratic event in Scotland’s modern history. The one rule of being a ceremonial monarch is don’t abuse your position.

          She abused her position. Remember that.

          None of this is tangible in the Relentless Grovel Fest that passes for royal journalism, but it’s happening on the ground. We’re on the road to a Scottish Republic ! ( but shhh…don’t tell anyone )

          Everyone, across the UK, is welcome to my 2025 Balmoral Scotland Republic Party ( hopefully in the next 5 years ). We’ll put on Prince Charles’s old kilts and drink malt whisky and rifle through the attic searching for Seig Heil pictures.

          The BBC & the Royal Family

          The World-wide-web-super-highway is filled with angry people who foam and rage against the BBC. And yours truly, is not one of them. Public service broadcasting is a rare  and fragile thing, and though hugely flawed – don’t @ me – the BBC should be defended and saved from its worst impulses  ( otherwise it’s privatised telly –  Fox News & ITN for us all, for ever).

          But royalty brings out the worst in the BBC. The broadcaster is at its most servile and unctuous, never kneeling when it can lie on the ground and drool at the green wellies of the nearest Windsor.

          The royal fawning  is incessant and relentless. Every day, some trivial ephemera about Das Windsors No angle is too silly. Never hold power to account when you can grovel. It’s constantly reinforced – Everything The Royal Family Do is deemed Significant Enough To Be Celebrated.

          Look below at the BBC’s Royal Charter – it’s  one of those establishment documents that tells you nothing but at the same time tells your everything….

          After the Hey-nonny-nonny-nonsense it states:

          the BBC should accurately and authentically represent and portray the lives of the people of the United Kingdom today, and raise awareness of the different cultures and alternative viewpoints that make up its society.

          So far so good. Hurrah for ‘alternative’ points of view. But  the charter then goes on to say…

          The BBC should bring people together for shared experiences and help contribute to the social cohesion and wellbeing of the United Kingdom.

          So Royal Weddings, Births, Speechifying, Deaths, Tours = shared experiences that are deemed to help contribute to social cohesion. And by social cohesion, I think what’s implied is docility. Circuses for everyone ( but you can read about the bread ).

          Despite the fact that the majority don’t care about events like royal weddings, the BBC go to Def Fawn 1. Everything any royal commentator says is treated as completely credible, and the rarely  moments when a sceptical voice is invited to contribute, they are treated with scorn and their logical observations reacted to as if they were outrageous.

          These days ‘National’ events are consolidated by almost weekly feudal porn likeseries The Queen: A Passion For Horses or Prince Charles dedicating an hour long episode of Countryfile to how great he is…, or even Prince Harry taking over The Today Programme.

          Occasionally, something mildly contextualising will come up – such as a series called Reinventing the Royals -but it was pulled at the last minute, then broadcast 6 weeks later, after the royals had neutered any interesting content.

          Do the BBC employ censors monitoring it’s output for the slightest hint of republican sentiment? Naw, they Make Staff do It Themselves. And so, critical voices get no airtime, and even journalists who cringe at what it does to the corporations credibility, must play along. I can’t imagine a senior BBC reporter being allowed to do what Michael Crick does here…

          Royal Footage held by the BBC is strictly controlled (  editorial  compliance forms require producers to state if they plan to use any royal footage and in what context, which then has to be sanctioned ) – hence no repeat screenings for cringefests like  It’s a Royal Knockout.

          The sad truth is the BBC is essential and complicit in the continuation of reverence for the Royal Family. They, more than anyone else, frame the narrative. Without BBC coverage, the monarchy fades away.

          There is some hope. The BBC didn’t bother to cover Princess Andrews Daughter And that Posh Tequila Face guy’s wedding, which though hardly revolutionary, at least shows that public opinion can shift the dial a notch. And, amidst the 30 separate BBC Website updates – there was one that was at least not cheering but factual….

           

          The point is, the BBC is suppose to reflect a diversity of opinion. It’s Your BBC, not just the 1%’s BBC. So rattle the cages. Visibly show disdain towards all this grovelling.
